Business Challenge
Northridge Interactive (NRi) partnered with MoveOn through the concepting phase. Once the storyboard was developed, NRi worked with the video production team to identify the best way to create a video that could have customized name insertions while being visually seamless. Once the video was provided to NRi, our team developed appropriate design elements, ActionScript, and FaceBook integration.
Solution Approach
NRi designed the campaign site and developed the functionality wherein a user enters the name and email address of a friend, the friend receives a link to a news video with their name embedded as the one citizen who did not vote and thus swung the election. NRi integrated custom and stock video with Adobe Flash, including custom font and motion treatments for the friend’s name throughout the video. In addition to the campaign site and video integration, NRi also developed a custom Facebook application allowing users to send links to custom-generated videos to their personal friend list.
Results Delivered
The video, lauded by some as “the most viral political video” of all time, was viewed over 21 million times in the three weeks surrounding the 2008 election. It has won a Silver Addy Award and named in Time.com as one of the top 10 viral videos of 2008.
