As the Twitter hype continues…One of the stars of Twitter Ashton Kutcher is threatening to stop posting if Twitter moves forward on its plans for a TV show. I suppose that I understand where he is coming from since the people behind the show have stated that at the core it would “put ordinary people on the trails of celebrities”.

Back in January, there was a series of articles putting its valuation at $250 million. Having recently been at a conference where it seems people are more interested in Tweeting about everything than engaging in the actual event, it just starts to seem a little odd to me. I definitely see where and how it has some value to aggregate real-time information around a particular interest, but there is a point where the ease starts to heavily impact the value and quality.
I guess with all things, I am the reluctant technologist who always looks for the inherent social value of something before getting caught up in the hype of the tool. I have to say that the jury is still out on Twitter. Remember the mad rush to Second Life…
